Dr. Jerrod Hansen Announced as Guest Speaker

The Guest Speaker for SEASACxSAISMUN 2018 has now been confirmed!

We are delighted to welcome U.S. Embassy Political Officer Dr. Jerrod Hansen to our conference to deliver the opening remarks followed by a Q&A session from the audience. Feel free to come prepared with a question or two that you could potentially ask during the Opening Ceremony.

Biographical Information:

Jerrod Hansen joined the U.S. Embassy in Singapore as a Political officer in July, 2016. His previous assignments include Abuja, Nigeria, and Seoul, South Korea, and he can speak some Japanese and Korean. In Singapore, Jerrod covers cyber security, counter terrorism, countering violent extremism, military affairs, and space policy.

Before joining the Foreign Service, Jerrod taught courses on Modern World History, Terrorism, and Cross-cultural Communication, at Osaka Jogakuin College in Osaka, Japan. Jerrod received a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota, an M.A. in Anthropology from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Kyoto University, Japan.

He is originally from the Idaho panhandle and lived in Japan for 12 years before joining the Foreign Service. He is joined in Singapore by his 14 year old daughter and his beloved pet dog and cat. He enjoys playing the bass and urban and landscape photography.
